Organ experiment

Kia Ora,
Yesterday, Team Moana got to cut open lamb organs. Our organ was a kidney. We had to use our five senses - sight, feel, taste, hear and smell.
Once we had done our brainstorm on paper we got to chose how to present our writing. My
favourite part was observing the lamb kidney because I was able to think of some really interesting words. We did this language experience because we recently had Life ED at our school and we were learning about the body. I chose to do a acrostic poem. Here my poem.

Limp piece of meat lying on the plate
"Awesome", said some people and "eww!!", said others
Mustard green covered the skin
Bracing myself as the knife dug into the piece of raw meat

Kidney juice drips out of it
"Incredible!", yelled my group
Different colours are inside
Noise rung in my ears as it was sizzling in the pan
Exploring the piece of meat in my hands soft and slimy
Yes would not be my answer if Mrs B asked if I wanted to try some cooked kidney.

Holes descriptive Writing

Kia Ora Everyone
Last week and this week team Moana have being reading a book about Holes.
Holes is a movie and a book about kids that did a bad thing and didn't want to go to jail. We made a brainstorm of describing people first. Next, we turn it into a paragraph that described the warden of Camp Green Lake. Here is my work below.

Tall but slim, pretty but bossy, she gracefully walks. Hair is as red as blood, puffy but laid out perfectly down her back. Acts like she’s Number One. Eyes shaped like almonds, green like an emerald sparkling in the sun.  Dark red nails like ripe juicy strawberries. Lips taste like soft pink cherries that have been ripening in the sun for weeks.Sleeves pulled up so high you can see her freckles laid out like a pattern, going down her arm. Sounds bitter and demanding like a grizzly bear looking for food.

Skittles Experiment

Kia Ora
On Tuesday Team Moana did a Skittles experiment. We had to find out what would happen when we put water with Skittles. They made a pattern when mixed together. The flavour and colour got drained out of the Skittles so fast. After the experiment we got to chose how to present our experiment by using our five senses. I chose to do a Thing link.
Here is my writing from Thing link.

Cross country

Kia Ora Everyone!

Yesterday we did Cross Country and lots of different schools came to our school to race us.I was so nervous I had butterflies in my tummy. The seniors had to go around the course twice. The juniors had to go around the course once and the middle school had to go around a field twice and the course once.I came 12th. It was really hard because there were fast runners. At the end of the race I was as red as a ripe tomato. Here is a photo of the 10 year old girls lining up but you can't see me.
