Learning journey 2016

Here is my learning journey  this is a tracking document that has all the levels that I am at each term. I need to work on basic facts I am on stage 5 and I need to be at stage 6.

Basic facts end of Term 4 2016

Here is my last  basic facts test I did on stage 5. I did great in Hundreds adding to 1000 I need to work on grouping within 100.

My family tree

This year we had greats and grands day at the beginning of the week mrs B told us to do all of the activities. one of the activities was a family tree I wanted to show you my family tree. here it is.

This term we did a knowledge test. My teacher said I did really well. because I got 9 blue to do and all the rest were gold. my score was 9/40.some of them were a bit some were easy.

Fishing

Hi everyone
Last week on Thursday, we went to the trout centre, in Turangi.. We went through the museum and through the aquarium. where there were lots of trout and white bait. After we went through there we went to feed the trout in the river. Then we went for a walk until we got to the kids' fishing pond. It was full of trout, small and big. We were put in groups. I was in the first group. We went and got our trout license so we could go fishing and catch some trout.I caught a big one. It pulled so hard-it was a strong fish and it was a girl. After I got it gutted and I got to hold the heart. They put the trout it in a plastic bag with my name on it. I had a fun time.

Making a qult with nana

‘"Yay!"I said. " I get to go to Nana’s for the day. On Friday "When we got there she was doing a quilt. It had lots of forest animals on it. She had lots of grey and white materials. Nana was doing a bunny.

First, we started cutting the right materials into the right shapes.Next, we had to follow the instructions on how to sew everything together. It took a while to sew the ears together. After that, we had to sew all the eye and mouth pieces together.

Finally we sewed all the white face and the background together.When it was finished it looked bigger than I thought. It was  white, black and grey.

We were just going to start  on a hedgehog which was cute but I had to go home. Since Nana is  my neighbor we got to walk to my house. On the way I picked some lilies for Mum.It was a fun day.

Country Dressup Day

This year for fundraising for the ski trip we did a country dress up day. You had to donate $2. There were lots of All Blacks.I dressed up as an Australian. I brought a koala to hang on me. This is a photo of all the dressed up people in my class. Don't take any notice of the date on the photo. Mrs B, our teacher, is always having trouble with her camera!

This week we have been doing Thinglinks. Everyone had to do one about their nana or granddad.  You had to click on an icon and write something about them.Here is mine.

Recount

Here is the recount I wrote  for an Asttle writing test in Week 4.  Our teacher marked all our recounts and gave us our scores. Mine came out at Level 2a  which is just below the end of year standard for Year Five. I got the lowest points for organisation and the highest points for punctuation.

 We helped each other improve them by reading each other’s recount and talking about them. We also used Revision Assistant to help edit each other’s story and Mrs B added some notes as well. Everyone in our room likes Revision Assistant because it’s easy to understand the marks/ notes that it puts on your writing and so it’s quick for us to go and do the fix-ups. We have to have practically perfect grammar, punctuation and spelling in our stories before we are allowed to publish them here. I hope someone will give me some feedback.

My red panda fishbone facts.

This is an activity we did when we were learning how to find facts and put them in the right box on  a fishbone diagram. We are learning how to write a report about an animal which is native to China. We are learning about China at the moment because last week was Chinese language week and one of our classmates, Braeden, is half Chinese. I decided to put a photo of my animal on the background of my fishbone diagram and publish it just like that.

Something I think I have done well  is making sure I got the right facts in the right box.

Next time I think I could improve by writing more notes and fewer sentences. I need to just write down key words not whole sentences when I am making notes.

Something I think I have done well is putting similes in it but

next time I think I could improve by meeting the deadline.

Something I think I have done well  is thinking up good things to say but

next time I think I could improve my capitals and fullstops because my teacher had to give me two tips about them.

I am writing to thank you very much for letting  me go on the ski trip last week.

I really enjoyed the whole week and skiing was amazing .

I also liked going to the trout place because we got to fly fish.It was my first time fly fishing and

I caught a big trout.It was fun.

My favourite part was going on the chair lift.

I would really love to go skiing again, one day.

The wrong key

Kia Ora,

This term we have been training for cross country. dose your school do cross country? us big kids have to do 2 laps around the track. If we don't do 2 laps we have to run at lunchtime. I have never got less then 2 laps ever. I hope I come something more then last I'm going to start off running and when I get tired I take a little break and I sprint off in front of everybody and I'm going to do it over and over again until we have finished. I enjoy fitness because you get fit and heathey. The learning for cross country is that every time we practice at school I always fell like I can do more than everybody.

To show you our cross country track we went for a walk and videoed it on the I-pad util we got up to the gate that we had to unlock we put the key in then we noticed that we had the wrong key. when we got back we also noticed that half of the video was cut off oh no!!

Time post test

Today we had to do a test at the end of our time unit. I got a score of 71%. The ones I got wrong were the half past ones and the calendar a little bit.  In the pretest I got 59%. I think I did well.

My multiplication reusults

Hello This week we had to re-do the multiplication test that we did at the start of the year to see what improvement we had made. Last time I got a score of 0/30 and I knew none of my times tables. This time my score was 14/30 and I know my 0x, 1x and 2x tables. I need to learn my 5x and 10x times tables.

My basic facts term 2

Kia Ora this week we had to re-do the basic facts test that we did at the start of the year to see what improvement we had made. Last time I got a score of 10/60. This time my score was 23/60. I need to work on multiplication facts. I more than doubled my score and Mrs B is very happy with me and so am I!

Description of a Husky

Kia ora this week we have been learning about putting more description in our writing. Mrs B and my buddy helped me.I did one of Husky.I described it what it looks like.I think that I need to put more description in it.I also think I need to put more powerful word in my writing.Here is my one.

Maths test

kia ora This week we did a maths test about time.I think I did OK. I got %59.

Reading activity

We have been learning how to write a one-sided argument so we can use them for the speech contest. This an activity we did to help us understand more about the kind of language and structure that you need when you write an argument. I found this activity easy and I finished it all by myself.
